Acupuncturist and Practitioner of Oriental Medicine, licensed by the Oregon Medical Board (BME) and certified by NCCAOM since 2002. Earned a Masters Degree at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in Portland, Oregon. Nutritional Therapist (Certified by NTA since 2009), Massage Therapist (Licensed since 1994), and Founder of Healing Path Holistic Medicine Clinic (2004), Qigong teacher (certified since 2000).
In 1989 I was diagnosed with cancer. Although at the time I was unfamiliar to most natural therapies, this life threatening illness had everything to do with why I now practice natural medicine. After enduring harsh Western treatment for my illness, I later turned to more natural therapies like Oriental Medicine. As cancer inspired me to deepen my knowledge of natural healing, also being pregnant with my daughter, Isabella, stimulated me to take it to the next level with nutritional therapy. Today I am a healthy mom, and have been a practitioner of natural health for over 16 years. Massage was my first way to help others, and I obtained my massage license in 1994 after attending the Florida School of Massage. In 2002 I earned a Masters Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine, and in 2004 I founded Healing Path Holistic Medicine Clinic in Milwaukie, where I offer acupuncture, nutritional therapy, massage, and qigong classes.
My special interests are in reducing musculo-skeletal pain, fatigue, digestive issues, allergies, and women's health problems. Acupuncture, massage and simple nutritional adjustments are very effective to remedy the above conditions, especially if the patient gets involved with taking charge of their own health.
I found that Oriental Medicine and Nutritional Therapy work well together, as they share the belief of "no person is alike, and therefore each condition should be treated according to the bio-individuality of each person." In other words, 5 people might seek treatment for headaches, but rather than applying one protocol for all 5, each person is carefully interviewed and examined to determine which treatment will work best for them.
I believe that while we have not been diagnosed with an illness, improvement of our health is an ongoing process. Wear and tear of our body will undoubtedly happen to a certain degree, but the energetic imbalances, as well as nutritional imbalances continually require our attention. Starting with a balanced whole food diet, management of stress, proper exercise, being socially and spiritually connected, we have a good start to optimal health. However, our individual natural tendencies towards imbalances need outside help to bring back homeostasis.
My commitment to my own health is a large part of my inspiration and compassion to help others. I enjoy living in Corbett with my husband, daughter, dogs, and cat, as well as cooking whole foods, organic gardening, yoga, dancing, biking, and taking long walks in nature. I am honored to help you on your healing path.
