Founder and Owner of Portland Nutritional Therapy Clinic and Healing Path Holistic Medicine Clinic, Nutritional Therapist, certified by NTA since 2009, Acupuncturist and Practitioner of Oriental Medicine since 2002, and Founder of Healing Path Holistic Medicine Clinic since 2004.

In 1989 I was diagnosed with cancer. After a year of treatments, and receiving the “cancer free bill” from the oncologist, I was left wondering what I could do differently to avoid such a terrible ordeal in the future. Back then there was no internet and my knowledge came from a nutrition class in college, which was based on counting calories and low fat. This paradigm completely changed after I got introduced to the Weston A. Price Foundation and my training at the Nutritional Therapy Association. The discovery I made was that it came down to properly prepared nutrient dense food and proper digestion. Those are the foundations to our health.  We cannot obtain optimal health without addressing those foundations. Today, I am in great health and have given birth to a healthy child. My family and I are benefitting from all the nutritional wisdom I have gained over the last 20+ years.

I found that Nutritional Therapy and Oriental Medicine work well together, as they share the belief of “no person is alike, and therefore each condition should be treated according to the bio-individuality of each person.” My commitment to my own health is a large part of my inspiration and compassion to help others. I enjoy living in Corbett with my husband, daughter, dogs, and cat, as well as cooking whole foods, organic gardening, yoga, dancing, biking, and taking long walks in nature. I am honored to help you on your healing path.

Nutritional Therapy & Corporate Wellness Education

I am proud to be part of the Portland Nutritional Therapy Clinic. As a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, I address nutrition from a holistic perspective, “Nourishing Excellence” in mind, body, & spirit – empowering you to achieve optimal health and vitality – giving you an edge in work, in your sport, and in life.

Do you have a specific goal in mind? Perhaps improved athletic performance, fat loss, more energy, better mood, balanced hormones, reduced inflammation, or just overall better health? Specific nutrition and lifestyle guidance can help you achieve the right balance to get you on your way to living your life the way you were meant to – to the fullest.

Respecting the innate intelligence of the body, I have a particular passion for ancestral health-using Paleo, Primal, and traditional wisdom to build the framework of my nutritional approach.

I will address your specific goals and concerns while evaluating and working to balance and restore your foundational strengths and weaknesses so that you can optimize your overall wellness and performance goals.

My Nutritional Therapy services includes a comprehensive evaluation, employing the following assessment tools:

  • Confidential Health History/Interview
  • Food Journal Evaluation
  • Online Nutritional Assessment Questionnaire & Analysis
  • Functional Evaluation/Lingual-Neuro Testing (In-person only)
  • Tissue Mineral Analysis (optional)

With the findings from the assessment tools above, I focus on nutritionally supporting the strengths and weaknesses in the following (but not limited to) areas*:

  • Body Composition
  • Digestive Health
  • Vitamins & Minerals
  • Essential Fatty Acids
  • Sugar Handling
  • Endocrine Health (adrenal & thyroid)
  • Cardiovascular Health
  • Immune Heath

*I have additional training in Sports Nutrition, Mental Health, Fertility, Obesity, and Joint Health and a special interest in supporting Asperger’s, ADHD, anxiety, menopause, and depression. I also have experience working with teens.

Combining your goals and the results of the assessment and analysis tools, I develop a comprehensive personalized nutrition plan specifically for you.

I am a wife and the mother of 3 sons – 2 in college and 1 in high school. My passion to help others is driven by the incredible results that targeted nutrition has played in my own life, that of my family’s, and the countless others that I have been privileged and honored to help.

Before my career in nutrition, my education was in computer and electronic technology and program management. I worked for many years in the defense industry as a technical specialist, a technical writer, and in project management. I spent my off hours expanding my love of fitness and nutrition by working as a fitness instructor, a certified race-walk coach, a Reiki II practitioner, and the director of marketing for a corporate wellness company. As my nutritional approach and diverse skills evolved, I combined my talents in management, marketing, fitness, writing, Reiki, and nutrition to earn my certification from the Nutritional Therapy Association and launch my practice, Nourishing Excellence Nutritional Therapy. I am also a content developer and researcher for Balanced Bites and a member of the Weston A. Price Foundation and the National Association of Nutritional Professionals.

Wise Habits Nutritional Therapy

When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, one of my first questions was “What could I have done to prevent this from happening in my body?” I have always known that our body has an innate intelligence, that it is a miraculous instrument designed to heal itself. While researching to discover how I could change my habits to become cancer free, one thing kept shouting out at me – You are what you eat!

Combining my love of food, cooking, teaching, and a desire to help others stay well, I left  a two-decade career in special and elementary education in 2008 to became a certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP) and Certified GAPS Practitioner (CGP).

As a nutritional therapist, I support clients along their voyage to improved health through simple diet and lifestyle changes. Working one-on-one, I assess current health, nutrition, weight and energy levels. Through this evaluation process, we begin to peel back the layers of your health concerns, looking beyond alleviating your symptoms and working to find the root cause.

Specialize in the GAPS and SCD diets, Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free and Grain-Free eating and Paleo nutrition, I offer my clients:

  • One-on-one nutrition coaching – individual sessions or 3-month packages.
  • In-home cooking and meal planning services, pantry clean-outs, and healthy grocery store tours are also available to individuals upon request.
  • Nutrition classes and wellness workshops are available for business, school and community groups.

My husband and I live in Portland where I enjoy urban vegetable gardening, hiking, backpacking, bicycling, whole-foods cooking, being a nutrition nerd, yoga and travel.
